Healthy recipes of Urad Gota

While Urad Gota is a staple in every household for every dish that we eat such as Idly, Dosa, or Vada, there are so many others healthy, and tasty recipes we can try. Not only are these recipes healthy and tasty, they are very quick and easy to make, and can also be a part of your everyday diet. With these recipes being healthy can also be tasty.

A. Urad Gota Laddu

Ingredients:

  1. 3/4 th Cup Whole Urad Gota. Use the whole urad gota with black skin
  2. 1/4 th Cup Roasted Gram Dal
  3. 1 Cup Grated Jaggery
  4. 3-4 Cardamom
  5. ½ cup ghee
  6. Cashews

Instructions:

  1. Roast the Urad Gota and gram dal until nice aroma
  2. Set is aside and cool it. Grind them together into a smooth powder once it’s cooled
  3. Add Jaggery to the same mixer and grind until a smooth mixture of them is formed. The juice from the Jaggery will help bind the laddu
  4. Heat some ghee and roast cashews
  5. Add roasted cashews to the dal and Jaggery mixture. Make small rounds with the mixture using the help of ghee to help bind it.

B. Spicy Urad Gota

Ingredients:

  1. 1 cup urad gota
  2. Turmeric powder
  3. Ginger
  4. Garlic
  5. Tomatoes
  6. Salt
  7. Chilli powder
  8. Coriander
  9. Oil
  10. Garam masala

Instructions:

  1. Cook the dal and ginger with 2-3 cups of water in the pressure cooker for 3 whistles

  1. In a pan, add oil and garlic, add the tomatoes, turmeric powder and cook until the raw smell isn’t there anymore. Add chilli powder and salt
  2. Add the cooked dal, let it cook in low flame for 10 minutes. Add water for desired consistency
  3. Add coriander and garam masala and cook on high flame. Serve with hot rotis or steamed rice.

C. Adai

Ingredients:

  1. 1/2 cup rice
  2. 1/4th cup Channa dal
  3. 1/4th cup Urad gota
  4. 1/4th cup Tuvar dal
  5. Red chillies
  6. Ginger
  7. Cumin
  8. Hing
  9. Curry leaves
  10. Coriander
  11. Salt
  12. Finely chopped onions

Instructions:

  1. Soak all the dals and red chillies for 2-3 hours in water
  2. Add ginger, hing, curry leaves, cumin and grind the soaked dals into a coarse paste
  3. Cover the batter, and keep it aside for one hour
  4. To the rested batter, add chopped onions and coriander and salt as required
  5. Oil a heated pan, spread out the batter like a dosa, and dent it in the center to make sure the adai is cooked evenly
  6. Cook on both sides and enjoy with spicy tomato or onion chutney.
